Venik Whisking Sessions

Venik (Vihta in Finnish) whisking is a natural, traditional way to boost health, relax, and connect with a centuries-old wellness practice

A traditional practice from Russian and Eastern European bathhouses as well as Finland. It involves gently hitting or brushing the body with a bundle of leafy branches called a venik or vihta.

The venik is usually made from birch, oak, or other tree branches. Before using, it's soaked in warm water to soften the leaves and release a natural, woodsy scent.

This practice has been around for hundreds of years, especially in places with cold climates like Russia, Ukraine, and Finland. In those areas, people use steam baths not just to clean the body, but to promote health and relaxation.

Venik whisking isn’t just for show — it has real benefits:

  • Improves circulation: The tapping motion brings more blood to the skin and muscles.

  • Relaxes muscles: Like a gentle massage, it helps release tension.

  • Cleans and refreshes the skin: The leaves open the pores and remove toxins.

  • Boosts the immune system: The heat and essential oils in the leaves can help the body fight off illness.

  • Helps you breathe better: Especially with birch or eucalyptus, the scent can clear the airways
